S.Comm Strengthens KBEIP Development Through Telecommunications and AI

KOTA KINABALU: SEDCO Communications Sdn Bhd (S.Comm) presented its corporate development plans and updates on the strategic projects in which it is involved to the Sabah State Government here on Wednesday.

The presentation was delivered by Sabah Economic Development Corporation (SEDCO) Chairman, Datuk Masiung Banah, during a courtesy call on Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor at the Sabah State Legislative Assembly building.

During the session, Masiung presented the proposed master plan and development framework for the Kudat Blue Economy Industrial Park (KBEIP), which is set to be implemented in Kudat.

S.Comm also outlined its plans to expand its involvement in the telecommunications sector. The company is currently establishing strategic partnerships with international companies to explore the development of artificial intelligence-based technologies in Sabah.

Meanwhile, SEDCO, as the lead agency for the development of KBEIP, said it is formulating preliminary guidelines for earthworks and site surveying in preparation for the project’s implementation under the 13th Malaysia Plan.

KBEIP is envisioned as a blue economy-based industrial hub integrating maritime development, green technology and high-impact industries, in line with efforts to strengthen Sabah’s economic growth and development.

Also present during the courtesy call were Sabah Ministry of Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Permanent Secretary Datuk Thomas Logijin; SEDCO General Manager Datuk Ar Jemas Wong Kein Peng; and S.Comm Chief Executive Officer Subha Maraiah.
